2024-25 MHS EXECUTIVE ELECTIONS
The McMaster Humanities Society Core Executive is comprised of the President, six elected Vice-President positions, two elected First Year Representatives, and the VP of Administration (an interviewed position). The Core Exec manages the events, academics, clubs, budget, and overall functions of the McMaster Humanities Society.
What is the election process like? who can run?
In order to run for any of our elected positions, one must be a full-time Humanities undergraduate student.
Each candidate must obtain the first and last names and student numbers of 15 full-time undergraduate Humanities students to support their nomination.
This is followed by a 5-day campaign period, and a 3-day voting period to elect the winner of each position.
The 2024-25 MHS Presidential Election timeline is as follows:
January 29th - February 5th: Presidential Nominations Open
Candidates meeting will be held between close of nominations and start of campaign period, more info will be shared with candidates directly .
February 9th - February 13th: Presidential Campaign Period
February 14th - 16th: Presidential Voting Period
The 2024-25 MHS Vice Presidential Election Timeline is as follows:
February 26th - March 6th: Vice Presidential Nominations (VP Admin Application) Open
Candidates meeting will be held between close of nominations and start of campaign period, more info will be shared with candidates directly.
March 13th - March 17th: Vice Presidential Campaign Period
March 18th - March 20th: Vice Presidential Voting Period
VICE - PRESIDENTAL NOMINATIONS
1) Familiarize yourself with the MHS Vice-Presidential Campaign Guidelines and the MHS Bylaw 2 - Executive.
2) Read through the descriptions of the different VP Positions, and download the applicable nomination form (linked below).
3) Collect the names and student numbers of 15 full-time undergraduate Humanities students who support your nomination (for all positions excl. VP Administration)
4) Email your completed nomination form to mhs.president@machumsociety.com (or complete the VP Administration Application) by MARCH 6TH at 11:59 PM.
5) Attend the mandatory All Candidates Meeting (time & date TBD) to be briefed on election rules and campaigning guidelines.
Please note that the VP Administration is selected by application and interview. Candidates will not be required to campaign or collect nominations.
PRESIDENTAL NOMINATION
1) Familiarize yourself with the MHS Presidential Campaign Guidelines.
2) Download the nomination form for President, and be sure to read up on the role description to ensure that it is of interest to you!
3) Collect the names and student numbers of 15 full-time undergraduate Humanities students who support your nomination.
4) Email your completed nomination form at mhs.president@machumsociety.com by FEBRUARY 5TH at 11:59 PM.
4) Attend the mandatory All Candidates Meeting (time & date TBD) to be briefed on election rules and campaigning guidelines.
